Personal Trainer in Halifax

I'm Henry, a Level 3 qualified personal trainer, and Halifax is my base. Every session I run happens here at The Unit Fitness, so if you're in Halifax you're training on my home ground with no travelling to do.

Training in Halifax

All of my one-to-one work runs out of The Unit Fitness in Halifax. Being based in one gym rather than travelling between several means I know the equipment inside out and can plan your sessions around exactly what is available, rather than improvising around whatever happens to be free.

It also means flexibility. If you want to come in outside of a booked session to practise something we have worked on, I am usually around and happy to point you in the right direction.

What I specialise in

My focus is calisthenics and functional strength: building strength you can actually use, rather than strength that only shows up on a machine.

If you have never set foot in a gym before, that is completely fine and it is a large part of who I work with. Fitness should feel achievable and genuinely enjoyable, not intimidating.

Who I work with

Total beginners who want someone to show them what to do and why. People who have trained for years but have plateaued. People chasing a specific skill they have never been able to crack. And people coming back after time out who want to do it sensibly this time.

Whatever your starting point, I will meet you there and we will progress at a pace that works for you and your life.

Why train with me

I practise what I preach. In April 2026 I completed a 1,000 pull-up challenge in under five hours, raising over £3,000 for Kirkwood Hospice. I know what it takes to set a big goal and actually see it through, and that is what I want to help you do.

I also coach honestly from experience rather than from a textbook. I have worked through my own difficult relationship with food and training, and through injury, to get to a place where training is sustainable. That shapes how I coach: no extremes, no punishment, just steady progress you can keep up.

The Unit Fitness is on my doorstep and yours. If you are anywhere in Halifax you are a few minutes away, so there is no travel to talk yourself out of.

Miss a session and you can carry one into the next month. Going away? Tell me a fortnight ahead and I'll pause your month. The full terms are in the terms of service.

Questions from Halifax

Where exactly do the sessions happen?
The Unit Fitness in Halifax, every session, without exception. I do not travel between gyms or train people in their homes. One gym means I know every piece of kit in the building and can plan your session around what is actually there.
Do I need to be a member of The Unit?
No. If you are not a member there is a £5 entry fee per session paid straight to the gym, which is a half price day pass. If you end up training there outside our sessions too, joining usually works out cheaper, and I will tell you when that point comes.
When do you train people?
Thursday to Saturday. I work full time elsewhere for now, so those are the days I can give you properly rather than squeezing you in around something else.
I have never trained before and I feel stupid asking. Is that a problem?
It is most of who I work with, and it is the reason I do this. I was overweight and miserable, then I went too far the other way and starved myself skinny. I know exactly what walking into a gym for the first time feels like, and I am not going to make you feel daft.
