Personal Trainer for Brighouse

If you are in Brighouse and looking for one-to-one training, you are well placed. I'm Henry, a Level 3 qualified personal trainer, and I coach out of The Unit Fitness in Halifax, a short run up the road from Brighouse.

Well placed for Brighouse

Brighouse sits between Halifax and Huddersfield, which makes it one of the easier places to train from. The Unit Fitness in Halifax is a short drive, and for most of Brighouse and Rastrick it is a genuinely quick trip rather than a journey you need to plan your day around.

That matters more than it sounds. The single biggest reason people stop training is that getting there becomes a hassle. If the gym is fifteen minutes away you keep going; if it is forty five, eventually you do not.

What one-to-one training gets you

Plenty of people can put together a workout. What personal training actually buys you is different:

My approach

I specialise in calisthenics and functional strength. In practice that means building strength you can use, through bodyweight training, working toward things like pull-ups, muscle-ups and handstands if that appeals, or simply getting stronger and fitter if it does not.

I am not interested in punishing sessions or extreme approaches. I believe training should be something you can sustain for years, not something you white-knuckle for six weeks and then abandon. Whatever your starting point, we go at a pace that works for you.

What happens first

Before anything else we have a proper conversation. You send an application, I get in touch personally, and we talk through what you want, what your situation is, and whether I am actually the right person for it.

If I am not the right fit, I will say so. There is no obligation and nothing to pay to apply.

If you are not a member of The Unit Fitness, there is a £5 gym entry fee per session paid directly to the gym (a half-price day pass). If you train regularly it may work out cheaper to join as a member. I'll go through all of this with you when we chat.

From most of Brighouse and Rastrick The Unit Fitness is a short run up the A6025, and parking at the gym is free, so the trip is genuinely about fifteen minutes door to door rather than an expedition.

Miss a session and you can carry one into the next month. Going away? Tell me a fortnight ahead and I'll pause your month. The full terms are in the terms of service.

Everything about how I coach, what a session actually looks like and the full price list is on the personal training page.

Questions from Brighouse

Is it really worth driving to Halifax to train?
Honest answer: if you want someone to walk you round the machines, no, and you should use a gym in Brighouse. If you specifically want calisthenics and bodyweight skill coaching, that is genuinely hard to find round here, and that is when the fifteen minutes is worth it.
How long does it take to get there?
Roughly fifteen minutes from most of Brighouse and Rastrick. Bailiff Bridge and Hipperholme are closer still. Parking at The Unit is free, which takes the faff out of it.
What days are you available?
Thursday to Saturday at The Unit Fitness in Halifax. If you work Monday to Friday, Saturday mornings tend to be the slot people from Brighouse take.
What if I try it and it is not for me?
That is exactly what the free first session is for. You come in, we train properly, we talk, and then you decide. There is nothing to sign and nothing to pay up front. If it is not for you I would rather you said so than kept paying me out of politeness.
